First Day of School Breakfast

Can you believe it’s time to start planning for Back to School?! Summer has been jam-packed with fun this year but I also love the structure and routine that school brings. Our Occasions by Shakira x My Mind’s Eye Back-to-School Collection always makes that transition exciting because we finally get to share everything we have been working on! This year the collection includes everything from pencil-shaped plates and napkins to lunchbox treat boxes, school-supply confetti, and the cutest pencil-shavings garland. Use code SHAKIRA20 when shopping the collection!

School year’s eve (the night before the first day of school) has become a tradition in our house where I put up fun decorations and set the scene to make breakfast the next morning a memorable moment. This year is extra special because it’s the first year that all four of our babies will be headed to the classroom! I was excited to try covered arches as a photo backdrop this year because they worked so well with the pencil shavings garland to compliment the theme. Our scalloped school icons plate layers perfectly with the notebook-shaped plate set and it all comes together on top of the notebook paper table runner.

Our school-themed breakfast board from last year was a BIG hit so we are definitely keeping that as staple of our tradition. Except this year we have a stack of these top quality No.2 pencil pack napkins to keep things neat.

I’m so in love with our adorable hair clips! The classroom-themed designs gave me so many ideas to include them in our setup. I placed a set beside the girls’ place settings as a small back-to-school surprise. The clips also make an adorable addition to teacher gifts, lunchbox treats, or Ready Confetti packages. The kids can mix and match their favorites to complete their first-day outfits or clip on to their backpacks for fun.

I also teamed up with Grace Collective Shop to create a new Ready Confetti printable that pairs perfectly with the confetti from the collection. It’s an easy first-day-of-school tradition that can help build excitement and calm some of those back-to-school nerves.

We used this fun table scatter and back pack treat bags from a previous collection , but I also love the idea of using this year’s lunchbox treat boxes for ready confetti or any kind of treat you want to share. There is also space to personalize each box however you like!

The first day of school always feels like a fresh start, and I love finding ways to make the morning feel a little more special for the kids. A fun breakfast, school-themed decorations, and a sweet surprise can turn an otherwise busy morning into a memory they look forward to each year. Cheers to another great first dayof school!

xoxo, Shakira
