Tooth Fairy Essentials

Hi, friends! Our time has finally come. Y’all, Raegan has been waiting for what feels like forever to get a visit from the tooth fairy. She came home from school a week or two ago BEAMING with joy. She said that during snack she felt her two bottom teeth wiggle. Low and behold, they’re getting more wiggly by the moment. So, like most other celebrations, I am bringing you all along for the ride.

I did a poll on Instagram about how much teeth are going for these days, and most people said between $1-$5 per tooth. A lot of parents give a larger loot for the first tooth, and many were caught off guard by the tooth falling out, and ended up giving larger bills for lack of another last minute option. I was also told that some parents give special collector coins, silver dollars, or rare $2 bills. Mark and I decided that we are going to go with $2 per tooth.

Fairy Dust Dollars

I am also adding a little bit of extra magic by creating glittery fairy dust money.

How you ask? I literally used modge podge glue and a glitter shaker.

I’ve seen this fairy dust money done a multitude of ways, to include using glitter hair spray, but I honestly didn’t want to go out and buy anything, when I knew I had craft supplies at home. I also REALLY love the look of the shaped glitter that we have, and how it comes in an easy to use shaker. I used a sponge brush (though you could easily use a cloth, your finger, or a regular paint brush) to paint on the modge podge, added the glitter, and then did the same to the back after about 3 minutes of dry time. Some of the larger shaped pieces fell off after drying, but the end effect is simply magical. I cannot wait for Raegan (and eventually Zarie and Xander) to feast her eyes on this extra special money.

Note: I’ll report back about our experience actually spending the money in stores, if Raegan chooses to spend it vs putting it in her piggy bank. I’ve heard nothing but good things, and that store associates are typically pretty chill about accepting the fairy dust money.

Tooth Pillows

Raegan also has a special tooth pillow wand from one of my favorite small shops Kiss You Co. (you may recognize this name from our Disney themed Boo Basket wands). There is a little pocket in the back that she places her tooth in, and that is where the tooth fairy swaps it out for cash. We’ve had this wand for over a year anticipating my little 6 1/2 year old using it, so they aren’t currently in stock. I did however find another DARLING tooth fairy pillow shop, that comes highly recommended.

I love that there are so many adorable options like tutus, superheroes and ball caps. You can even personalize the pocket on the back of the tooth pillow. There’s a wand option in this shop as well. Looks like shipping takes a few weeks, so if your little one has a wiggly tooth, I’d order sooner rather than later.

I also found the cutest little tooth fairy unicorn plush. My Zarie loves unicorns, so I am thinking about snagging it and stashing it away until it’s her time. She comes with a little tooth shaped drawstring back that you place the tooth in. I also found the sweetest little seashell tooth pillow that comes with the cutest mini mermaid HERE. There are so many cool options for this.

Tooth Fairy Certificates

How fun are these Tooth Fairy Certificates? They’re almost like little receipts signed by the Tooth Fairy that you can fill in with your kiddo’s name, the date, and the number of teeth lost. These come in a pack of 32 (Fun Fact: most humans have 20 baby teeth) so you’ll have plenty. I’m planning to tie a little ribbon around this and leave it by her pillow. They also offer a smaller postcard sized option here. I love the little official gold seal at the bottom.

Tooth Gemstone Bracelets

I am a longtime fan of these real gemstone bracelets, and when I saw that they offered tooth fairy themed ones, I literally gasped. The little details are unreal–I mean the little wand and fairy wings?!! So dang good, and it comes in both a pink and blue option!

Not feeling the idea of a bracelet as a fun gift, consider a new toothbrush!! I love these fun rainbow bamboo ones, to add a little dazzle dazzle to such a mundane task (daily brushing).

Okay, friends, I hope I’ve sparked some fun tooth fairy ideas for you…and while all of the above is totally extra (all I had was the good ole cool side of the pillow when I was little) I think its fun to add to the magic while we can. If you have any questions, please leave them below. Also, I’ll be saving a Tooth Fairy highlight to my Instagram for easy reference, and to document when the actual day arrives. I prepared $10 worth of dairy dust dollars, so let’s hope I’m good for a while.

xoxo, Shakira
