Toddler Chore Charts

Hey, friends! March is here–YAY! March is when springtime officially clicks in my head. I am sure we are nowhere near over cold days, but I am very much looking forward to warmer months, renewed nature, and lots of Spring cleaning and organizing. It is also the perfect time to implement our girls’ chore charts! I am really excited to have a concise and colorful way to get the girls excited to earn extra fun.

To be totally transparent, most of these chores are things that the girls already do often, but maybe not consistently. My main objective with these charts is to get the girls into a rhythm, and to show them that they can EARN their extras each day.

The chore chart printables were designed by Amy Hawthorne over at The Ever Co. They come in two different colorways ($2.99), and are completely customizable. You simply download to your computer, fill in your child’s name and chores, and print. I uploaded mine to OfficeDepot.com and have them professionally printed on 11x17inch ledger cardstock. Sidenote: because they are being framed anyway, they would totally be fine on regular printer paper.

Once they are printed you have the option of framing them, like I did, or simply print a new one each month. I purchased my 12x18inch poster frames from Target and used used the white paper backing as my matting. I also found a similar option, that is a little less expensive on Amazon. Grab the two pack HERE. Having the acrylic overlay allows for me to use dry erase markers to adjust the calendar each month, and note the when the girls get their chores finished. You can snag our favorite pack of fine point dry erase markers HERE.

Below are both my girls’ chore charts, and an example of the chart in a cool color design.

I really tried to make sure that I thought about the girls’ ages and development levels when it came to choosing their chores. Each item is something I know they can do, and learn to do well. I also split the list up by daily chores and extras (things I ask them to do as they are needed). It is important to my husband and I that our (very fortunate) children share responsibilities in our house. We want them to know that it takes all 4 of us to make our little world go round. We also want them to grow up knowing how to take care of their spaces.

Please keep in mind that this is what works for MY family…your chart may look a lot different—or maybe the idea of chore charts isn’t your thing. That is totally fine, I just use this space to share my own mothering, in hopes that you may find something useful in it. That is also what I love about these downloads–you can tweak and change them to your heart’s desire!

Raegan:
– Tidy the shoe cubbies and coat hooks
– Make bed
– Put dirty clothes in the basket
– Clear the table after dinner

Zarie:
– Tidy the shoe cubbies and coat hooks
– Make bed
– Put dirty clothes in the basket
– Place silverware on the table for meals

Extras:
– Put new bags in the trash and recycle bins
– Clean the playroom + play kitchen
– Help put away clean dishes

How it works:

Each chore is worth 1 dot and each girl needs 25 dots to earn a gift from the treasure box.

The treasure box is full of Dollar Tree gifts i.e. crayons/temporary tattoos/toys etc. Nothing crazy, but exciting for my girls are their ages!

If each girl gets 100 points by the end of the month then they get to pick a night to go have Mod Pizza for dinner (their absolute favorite thing ever) and dessert afterward. Both girls have to complete their charts for this to happen.

We hung the girls’ chore charts right in the mudroom since that is where they are responsible for keeping the shoes and jackets tidy. Lets pray it serves as a good reminder for them, because that space goes from 0 to 100 REAL QUICK haha.

As always, thanks for stopping by to see what we are up to. I pray that you’ve been able to take a few ideas from this post. I plan to show our chore chart progress over in my Instagram stories, so stay tuned!
