Our Tiny Tablescape

I am such a sucker for a gorgeous tablescape. Wedding, dinner parties, Thanksgiving Day—-you name it. I am always down to take in the gorgeousness of where everyone gathers—even when it comes to the tiny tables. Zarie is officially a big girl this year, and I loved putting together this sweet little space for them to enjoy Turkey Day!

I started by covering our playroom table in white easel paper. This provided a simple white surface, and I love that the girls can color on it, or have spills, and it is just too easy to clean up. I got this gorgeous little laser cut felt table runner from Hobby Lobby on 80% clearance! Whoop! It is the perfect size for a tiny tablescape, and easily wiped off.

I don’t think anything says “kids table” quite like coloring placemats. Toddlers don’t sit still, and this gives them something fun to do in between bites. Now that Raegan is writing actual letters, I’m hoping to use this page as a way to foster some conversation about what it means to be thankful. I got an entire booklet of these from Michael’s last year on clearance. I saw some newer books there a few weeks ago. Too late to run to the craft store? Here is a FREE placemat printable that you can print from home! I couldn’t pass up this handsome little pilgrim turkey at Target. Maybe he can serve as a little inspo for my tiny artists. Zarie hasn’t stopped cuddling him since he came home.

I’ll never grow tired of using mason jars for storage. Ever. They’re so cute and don’t break easily. I spruced them up by tying mustard and brown bows, using craft straw. I did the same with the painted pumpkins that we made in September. I loved painting those with the girls. It was the first time that we did something like that, and both girls actually created something. Who knows when I will actually have the heart to throw them away. They’re too cute. How long until they rot? Someone help me!

I am OBSESSED with these patterned paper plates and napkins. I love the mix of fall leaves and the non-traditional blue. There was no way I was leaving the store without them. I also snagged the larger version to take for Raegan’s preschool Fall Feast. How cute are those zigzag utensils ? You’ll probably see these a lot in the future. They offer a better grip for tiny hands, and I like that they are biodegradable.

These little milk jugs are from the dollar spot at Target, and we them morning and night in the Patterson household. For our tiny tablescape, I made leaf “placecards” out of orange construction paper, and cookie cutters. I snagged the mini beaded maize stalks at that same 80% off section at Hobby Lobby. I. LOVE. THEM. I feel like every image I’ve ever seen of the First Thanksgiving has maize in it. They add a pretty little touch of Plymouth Rock to the table. You’ll be seeing these repurposed next year, for sure.

I hope that everyone has a beautiful Thanksgiving. May all of your big and tiny tablescapes be lovely. I pray that your holiday is brimming with full bellies, fellowship, and love. If you’re looking for delicious old-fashioned mini apple pies, these are from BJ’s, and they were delish!

Don’t forget to send up a prayer for the amazing members of our military, who will not be with their families this year. Lookout for my next post that will showcase an item that is always present for Patterson Thanksgivings!
