Before I write this, I want to note that before actually having children, I was 100% against Elf on the Shelf. I thought it was pointless, took away from the Christmas season, and was just another thing to do. I was wrong–well, mostly. It is “another thing to do,” but it’s brought so much magic to our lives. My kids talk about our elves–yes, plural–all year long. They have been asking me when I thought they would show up all November. Button was the original elf, named on Raegan’s 2nd Christmas when she was 1 1/2, and “{belly} button” was one of her favorite words. It was only Button up until 2021 when he arrived MARRIED! Yes, folks, he arrived via hot air balloon with his wedding tuxedo and the new KiKi in her wedding gown! The kids were THRILLED! In 2022 (the same year I was growing an actual baby in my belly), they welcomed a little baby boy elf named Peppermint! You can catch up on all the fun in my Elf Szn highlight over on Instagram.
Our elves usually arrive and bring us a big breakfast from The North Pole. This year, the kids found them in a makeshift tinsel chandelier with a little “We’re Back” flag. Because it’s gotta be an easy (very early morning) setup, it’s usually donuts, pastries, fresh fruit, and muffins along with cider. I used the cutest North Pole themed plates, elf collar cups, and nice list napkins. I even set up a little elf party cracker at each place setting, which was full of stickers, paper crowns, and jokes. I popped some bacon in the oven and brewed coffee, and we all enjoyed it while watching the movie Elf together. It was so much fun. I kept it simple, playful, and colorful.
I can’t wait to see what magical mischief they get into this year! Make sure to follow along on Instagram. You can shop our elf breakfast supplies below!
