The 100th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is one of our favorite traditions! We love to turn our morning of parade watching into its own little celebration, and our new City Sidewalks collection with My Mind’s Eye gave me the perfect starting point for setting up a magical Thanksgiving morning.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the parade, so we decided to go even bigger with our setup, adding larger NYC-themed balloons, gold stars, and our very own city street! Watching the parade in pajamas is pretty much guaranteed, but carrying the theme on with NYC pajamas is another way we add a little magic to the morning.

One of my favorite additions to this collection is the set of placemats with stickers! The kids are able to decorate their own buildings and storefronts while we watched the parade, but the placemats can also be used to create the parade backdrop. We attached them to foam board and taped the stick balloons to the back to create the look of characters that we love floating down the street.

This year we have a matching parade bingo printable so everyone can mark the sights and sounds as they go by!

If you’ve been following along with us for a while, you know I love including a little surprise at our tables and these toy store treat boxes are the perfect size adding a little something special to each place setting. I found these great LEGO taxis that double as an activity and add to decor once the kids finished their build.

Cheers to 100 years of magic at Macy’s! We hope you have a beautiful Thanksgiving holiday filled with family, friends, and fun. We can’t wait to see what this year’s parade has in store!

xoxo, Shakira
