Hey, friends! I love to make things festive around our house, and with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I thought it would be so much fun to makeover our little play kitchen. If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that I’ve done this fun makeover a ton, and our little’s look forward to the big reveal. Check out the #OccasionsKitchen hashtag for past versions. I’ve shared our 2021 Valentine’s Day play kitchen below.
The play kitchen we have has been with us for over three years. It is the Chelsea Kitchen, and while pricey, is one of the nicest and most used toys we’ve ever gotten. Our kids (ages six, four and one) pretend play with it almost daily. It has truly withstood the test of time, chaotic toddler years and a cross country military move. I couldn’t recommend it enough. Snag it HERE.
If you’re thinking of giving your play kitchen a lovey dovey makeover, check out my tips below. I’ve also tried to affiliate link as many details as possible. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment below! I am happy to help!
1. Add in a fun doormat.
We got this fun doormat at Aldi last year, and I love how much flare such a simple addition makes. You can grab seasonal doormats at most big box and home decor stores like Target, HomeGoods and WalMart.
2. Add in seasonal decor.
I love to jazz up the play kitchen with fun decor like inexpensive window clings, pinwheel party decor (like seen above, small balloon garlands, and seasonal felt ball garlands. My favorites can be found HERE.
3. Snag cute tea towels
I’m a sucker for kitchen/tea towels. I always snag a new set for my own kitchen, which usually has two in it–I then stick one in our play kitchen for pretend play. It instantly gives their little kitchen a homey feel.
4. Add in a mini Occasions Bin™
What’s an Occasions Bin™? It’s a tradition I started as a way to pour more into life’s everyday moments. I fill a bin with all of my seasonal items, like themed plates, sprinkles and cups, and place on my kitchen counter. Having my things out on display instantly sparks joy and intentionality during the season. We pull from it to add a little magic to everyday moments like snack time and lunchbox packing.
As the creator of Occasions Bins, I naturally had to add a mini one to our play kitchen. It has a few paper products, their Disney Princess Cookbooks, a mini cake stand, and their little tea set. It’s such a fun way to bring to life their imaginations. I highly recommend this!
