Decorating gingerbread houses is one of my kids’ favorite traditions–and mine too, if I’m being honest. It is adorable to see the fun ways we all decorate, and to snag a few frosting tastes along the way–haha. That’s why I am so incredibly excited to be teaming up with Wilton to share our family fun using their Build It Yourself Petite Gingerbread House Decorating Kits. I make it a point to only collaborate with brands that I truly enjoy and love. All opinions are entirely my own.
Petite Gingerbread House Decorating Kit comes with: 6 pre-baked gingerbread house panels, 3 types of candy, green fondant, white ready-to-use icing, decorating bag and tip and instruction sheet. I got one for each of us to decorate, and they are the perfect size for individual decorating. The girls loved having their own little projects. I love how high quality the supplies were, and how many fun options are offered.
We also got some fun extra Wilton decorating supplies to add to the mix. To include: Mega Sprinkles Christmas Traditional 4 Pack, Mega Sprinkle Winter 4 Pack, Peppermint Crunch, Christmas Nonpareils Sprinkles, Holiday Sprinkles Jimmies Mix, Mini Light Bulb Icing Decorations, Mini Candy Cane Icing Decorations, Edible Silver Glitter Spray (so fun), Edible Glitter Silver Stars, Mini Fluted Tube Silicone Baking Molds (to act as containers for the decorating supplies), and I used All-in-One Disposable Bags with Tips to pipe our icing. I lined the table with festive wrapping paper, for a quick clean-up.
I collected the candies from each of our kids and added them to the center of the table for everyone to grab from, along with the extra decorating supplies. The festive hand-lettered sign is from one of my favorite small shops Chalk Designs By Me.
MOM HACK:
Want to know my biggest tip for gingerbread house decorating with little children? Use a hot glue gun to build the houses ahead of time. We typically use our houses as decor instead of for eating, so using hot glue works well for our family. The most fun part, for them, is the decorating, so I assemble the houses ahead of time.
While I always prepare for a huge mess when it comes to creating with my kids, I find it is incredibly helpful having the house built, and letting them use the icing for decorating. If you’d rather assemble with frosting, be sure to allot a few hours for the frosting to set, so you’ll have a sturdy gingerbread house to decorate.
The kids were so excited to walk in on the entire setup. An amazing local party shop, Meraki Creative Agency, installed the most stunning Christmas balloon garland and custom fringe backdrop for the occasion. I love the festive color gradient and the fun foil balloon details.
They truly took my vision and made it come true beyond what I’d hoped! They are also responsible for those fun custom Mickey ornaments. The perfect little gift to coordinate with our Mickey family matching jammies. It was the perfect way to kickoff the season in a big way. I love that the installation will last us for weeks, and many festive meals to come!
We had such a great time creating these intentional memories together. It was good to slow down, gather at the table, and do this together as a family. I love that baby Xander was with us this year. Zarie has her fill of frosting fingerfulls, and Raegan was SO proud of how her masterpiece came out. I am already looking forward to next year.
Check out the Wilton website to shop for your seasonal baking and decorating items.. Thanks for hanging out with my little fam, please leave any questions in the comments below.
Happy Memory Making!
