Who wants a crazy simple and festive breakfast idea? How about quick love note homemade pop tarts? These adorable treats are fun, and you only need 4 ingredients: store bought pie crust (typically found near the eggs/refrigerated biscuits), your preference of berry preserves, sprinkles and/or frosting!
These warm gooey treats are so easy to make! Feel free to make them your own by using homemade pie crust, and whatever sprinkles/frosting that you like. My gorgeous sprinkle mix is from Sprinkle Pop. If you’re looking for video showing how I made them, hop over to my Instagram Highlight labeled “Valentine Inspo” (HERE) for a play-by-play. The steps are so easy:
- Roll out the crust and use a pizza cutter or knife to cut the crust into the shape of diamonds.
- Use additional crust to cut out mini hearts to use as love note seals.
- Place of tablespoon of preserves/jam into the center.
- Fold the sides of the diamond in, and then fold up the bottom.
- Place the mini heart in the center of the note.
- (Optional) Brush egg wash or oil over the love notes to help seal them with a crispy crust during baking.
- Bake in a 375 degree oven for 15 minutes.
- Let cool (or don’t if you like them warm and gooey) and add sprinkles and/or frosting.
*NOTE* I put a scoop of vanilla frosting in a baggie, and cut a hole in it to create a makeshift piping bag! I used that to outline my little love note. - Enjoy!
