Hi, friends! It is officially Fall, and I am so excited to share one of our favorite Fall crafts with you. We use apples and paint to create our own fun pumpkin patches. I have linked all of my preferred supplies (just clicked the highlighted item) with you, but feel free to improvise with whatever you have on hand. Everything is also listed in my Amazon Store.
Have fun with it.
What you’ll need:
- Apples
- Washable Orange Paint
- Watercolors
- Paint Brush
- Canvas
- Markers
- Paper Plate
Step #1: Watercolor the background
Let your babe choose a pretty color (or two or three) to paint the background of your pumpkin patch. Brown or green are practical, but I love that the girls chose pink and purple.
Step #2: Prepare your materials
Slice your apple right through the core and stem to get that pumpkin shape we want. I love this craft because apples are the perfect size and shape for toddler hands.
Pour your orange paint onto the paper plate. Be generous with the amount, we want to create a thick textured stamp.
Step #3: STAMP
Press the apples right into the paint, and then right onto the canvas. Refilling on paint when needed.
Step #4: Add stems and vines
Once the pumpkins are dry (could take an hour or two) use your markers to draw stems and greenery. Have fun with this…use pipe cleaner or ribbon stems. Add jack-o-lantern faces or googly eyes.
Step #5: Display or gift.
I always try to display the girls’ masterpieces on our art wall, in our playroom. The back of the canvases are hollow, so they would easily fit over a pushpin, clip, or nail.
When the season passes, I tend to store these kinds of projects away in our art portfolio , and then I pull them out again the next year. These would also make a darling grandparent’s gift. Just add a little ribbon bow.
I hope your little enjoy this sweet little craft project as much as mine did. Remember to use washable paint, and keep a pack of cheap baby wipes close to quickly clear messes. If you’re not feeling the possibility of a big mess, take this outside onto the porch, or into the yard!
You can find all of the titles, descriptions, and links to purchase all of our Fall Reading List books HERE.
Don’t forget to share your crafts with me. I love to see and share your creativity! Have fun, friends.
