Out of This World Space Party

How stellar was this space party setup, ya’ll? I seriously had a blast styling such a fun theme! I especially loved the main table, balloon garlands, and creating the party food menu.

You all know how much I love custom invitations. Everyone’s first peek into any event, and this invitation was sure to make a great first impression.

Olive Fox Design created a space rocket shaped invitation featuring the cutest girl astronaut. When was the last time you saw the image of a girl astronaut? I love it! Raegan likened her to Dr. Mae Jemison from our Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History book! I’m also so in love with the star splattered black envelope.

How beautiful is the decor for this theme? I wanted to keep in clean and sleek. The honeycomb planet banner is from Ellie and Piper Party Boutique, and it is my favorite! I love the metallic finishes, to include the delicate string of space stars. I also included a large silver crescent moon that I scored on Amazon!

Balloon. Garlands. I will never get enough of them. They can never be too big or too elaborate. However, I wanted a smaller set for such a busy design. The black outer space balloon garland features a mix of different sized black, clear, and marbled black balloons. The marbled balloons totally give me Milky Way vibes, and I am obsessed. I also added in a few silver stars to this design, and throughout the setup.

5…4…3…2…1…BLAST OFF! The second balloon garland was for my rocket ship! The rocket blast balloon garland was comprised of various sized white and gray balloons. I added in a couple small fiery orange balloons, and a rose gold tassel at the base of the rocket ship balloon.

If you haven’t heard Audra Mae’s version of “Forever Young” then I would like for you to go listen to it right now. I had originally heard it years ago while watching Sons of Anarchy. It is SUCH a good one! The lyrics always pull at my mama heart strings. The song talks about a mama’s wishes for her growing child. It talks about holding those important lessons of courage and kindness close to you. The song served as my inspiration for this beautiful chalkboard. Kaleh Sampson does exquisite chalk art, and she created the perfect piece to incorporate into my design.

The main table was setup using two dark wired baskets to add height variation. We featured some of the most fun themed foods, and each item was labeled with a gorgeous watercolor card. Some of the punniest labels? Constellation Cookies, Galaxy, Cosmic Cupcakes, (rock candy) Meteorites. The snacks were placed on coordinating metallic robot plates!

Have you ever had a moon pie? I asked this question on my Insta stories, and more than half of the people who answered had no idea what I was talking about. Moon pies consists of two round graham cracker cookies, with marshmallow filling in the center, dipped in a flavored coating. They’re kinda like a mix between a s’more and a snack cake. They’re very popular in the south. I HAD to have some for this party. Unfortunately, they’re not carried at most stores. Let’s just say a very kind gentleman at Publix went searching on a forklift for me.

Those cupcakes literally blew me away. Sugar Art Custom Cakes and Desserts did an incredible job on those gorgeous cosmic cupcakes. The cupcake liners and toppers coordinate with the honeycomb planet banner, and can be found HERE.

When it came to the space party drinks, I knew that no ordinary punch would do. We needed something extra cool enough to fill those dope rocket ship cups! ROCKET FUEL! I needed glitter that was edible, and that could be placed in liquid without disintegrating. I won’t tell you the amount of time it took to find a perfect match, but I ended up using the perfect shade of cocktail glitter for a truly space-like effect.

Each place setting featured a fun coordinating solar system plate, rocket cup, and silver starred straw. Partygoers also got a fun space themed temporary tattoo. I snagged a few packages of them on crazy clearance at Gymboree. How cute is that sleeping moon? I love them!I I’ll also be sticking a few of these in the girls’ Easter baskets.

I can’t get enough of these double sided robot favor bags. These bags coordinate with the robot plates from the main table, and the custom cookie design. Some fun space party favor ideas: moon (kinetic) sand, pop rocks candy, or inflatable toy rockets.
