The Sweetest Little Occasion

Y’all, I truly had fun with this one. Love day is a good day in my book. I kind of like how obnoxious of a holiday it is. I love walking into the grocery store only to see it dripping in flowers and balloons. I love how overdone everything is. If you’re going to go all out, why not in the name of love?

If you’ve been following my social media, you know that Valentine’s Day is not just a celebration of romantic love, for me. I try to teach my girls that love starts, first, with love for Jesus, and for yourself. We also celebrate our love for family and friends. That is where the idea for this occasion stemmed. Let’s get some little buddies together to munch on good food, and love one another.

The kiddos got to enjoy an adorable painting craft and sweets table. I worked with some of the best dessert vendors in town, and they really showed out with the themed desserts. I am beyond impressed.

The Creative Frenzy is a local arts and crafts studio that I’d been dying to check out. The owner, Addrienne, is a talented artist, and awesome small business owner.

Olive Fox Design put her beautiful hand lettering talent to work for me again. Each project she does leaves me more and more blown away. Look at that sweet invitation! The watercolor detail is breathtaking! Watercolor is perfectly bold and delicate. I can’t get enough.

My grandmother always used to say “gimme some sugar” when she wanted kisses. As a matter of fact, my mama says it too. It’s just one of those wholesome southern phrases that brings me right back to my childhood. I couldn’t think of a better occasion to incorporate this sweet saying. I mean…Valentine’s Day is all about sugar and kisses, right? Doesn’t the watercolor lettering remind you a little of strawberry taffy, or cotton candy? Okay…I’m done obsessing over the lettering…for now.

Y’all, this balloon garland was a true labor of love. I changed it about 20 times, and it turned out so beautifully. I like my garlands full, and this was no different. I used pearlized and marbled balloons. The marbled balloons remind me of those huge pinwheel lollipops that you get at the carnival. Pure sweetness. The GORGEOUS felt garland, that I weaved in, was purchased from World Market. This garland is so versatile. I love the boho look it gives. It’s hanging as decor in our playroom right now. I’m planning to also use it on a Christmas tree this year. Stay tuned! The heart shaped latex balloons are from Party City.

We had a pretty delectable dessert spread. Each food item was served on a festive pedestal. The large porcelain white one was a wedding gift of mine; the others are from good ole Target. Those darling blushing heart napkins and plates are from Ellie and Piper Party Boutique. The paper heart doilies are from Dollar Tree!

PINK. MILK. Y’all, I couldn’t help myself with the strawberry milk. Served in vintage glass milk bottles, crowned with a powdered donut, and finished off with a heart shaped straw. This was easily my favorite detail of this setup. I included the vintage milk bottles and heart straws in my Occasion Kits! I always love sharing my favorites.

What goes best with milk? COOKIES! Those sweet cookies were the perfect match for the strawberry milk. We also had chocolate dipped strawberries, pretzel rods, and rice crispy treats,yh with beautiful festive sprinkle detailing. The custom cookies and cream macarons were heart shaped, and kettle corn in fun flavors like red velvet and marshmallow kiss. I served these in individual paper baking cups for easy eating.

How about those food label tents? Hand lettered and so punny! Valentines are full of puns, and I thought it would be fun to extend that theme to the food labels. You MAC my heart skip a beat. I love you BERRY much.

Not only did the kiddos get to eat their weight in sugar, they also got to do a fun painting craft! Their fun Valentine’s Day shirts were made by This N’ That designs!

The Creative Frenzy set up a painting area for the kiddos. Each kiddo had a name card, tiny apron, wooden heart frame, and painting supplies. I used silicone heart baking pans as a fun paint palette.

Seriously, how sweet is this setup? Totally snagged that heart tablecloth on clearance, after Valentines Day, last year. The rose gold “love” balloon is from Target and was a must have!

Pablo Picasso once said “It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.” I love that. Their frames turned out beautifully. Raegan’s is hanging in our playroom right now. I plan to make this a tradition for the girls. Next year, Zarie will be right up there creating a Valentine’s Day masterpiece too.

I want to end this post with a HUGE thank you to every family who ordered a Milk+Cookies Occasion Kit with me! It gives me an incredible amount of joy to be able to serve others by sharing my own traditions. I LOVED seeing all of your little ones crafting and giggling. So many sweet faces concentrating on cookie decorating. So many pink milk bubbles. Thank you for your support. I can’t wait to share my Spring Occasion Kits with you! These will officially launch April 1st! Keep at eye out on social media!
