Hey, y’all! My family celebrated the start of Autumn with an adventure to the Windy Hill Orchard and Cider Mill in York, South Carolina! We met up with good friends, and picked a half peck of apples each.
Raegan loved the hunt in finding the perfect apples. Zarie loved double fisting warm apple cider donuts. Mom and Dad basked in two flights of hard apple ciders. Throw in live music, games, and some farm fresh eggs to make it a perfect day!
So, what do you do with a half peck of freshly picked apples? You make cinnamon apple muffins, of course! But, before I give you the recipe, let me give my North Carolinian loves some quick details about making your way to the orchard.
Q: How far is it from Fayetteville?
A: It took us a little under three hours (to include some Hurricane Florence road closures) We made a day of it by visiting nearby Charlotte for dinner and shopping.
Q: Do they have food besides apples?
A: Yep! Apple Cider Donuts, Apple Cider Slush, Fried Apple Pies, locally made Pork Skins, and Soft pretzels. You’re also allowed to bring coolers of food to enjoy.
Q: What was your favorite hard cider?
A: The Rusty Gold
Visit their website or Facebook page for more information, pricing, and event updates.
Cinnamon Apple Muffin Recipe
Feel free to: swap out the cinnamon for pumpkin pie spice, use vegan butter, or a natural sugar alternative–like coconut sugar or honey.
Enjoy! Be sure to let me know what you think of the muffins!
XOXO,
Shakira

ššš I’m going to try these when Ben gets home. It might be a nice homemade, fall treat for him.
YAY! I also think these are Body Back approved since they’re made with whole wheat flour?
